Strengthening School Quality Through CBSE’s Assessment and Assurance Framework

At EDUTRI, we believe meaningful educational transformation begins with empowered educators and school leaders who understand both the purpose and the implementation of continuous quality assurance. The School Quality Assessment and Assurance Framework (SQAAF), developed by CBSE in alignment with NEP 2020, enables affiliated schools to undertake a structured process of institutional self-assessment across seven key domains, including curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, infrastructure, human resources, leadership & governance, and stakeholder satisfaction. While the framework offers a comprehensive roadmap for school improvement, its implementation requires systematic planning, evidence collection, and collaborative participation across the institution. EDUTRI partners with school leadership, Core Learning Teams, and academic staff to interpret SQAAF indicators, streamline the Review–Reflect–Respond–Rate (4R) cycle, and establish practical systems for

documentation, evidence mapping, and continuous improvement. Rather than completing the assessment on behalf of schools, our approach focuses on building institutional capacity to conduct objective, evidence-based self-evaluation and sustain quality assurance practices independently. Teachers gain a clearer understanding of how their classroom practices contribute to broader institutional goals, while school leaders acquire a structured framework for monitoring progress, identifying priorities, and driving strategic improvement. Over time, schools transition from viewing SQAAF as a compliance requirement to embracing it as a powerful framework for continuous school improvement, organizational excellence, and CBSE quality readiness.

Five Key Focus Areas

Understanding the Seven Domains Schools are guided through each of SQAAF’s domains, with particular attention to the heavily weighted Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment domain. Sessions break down benchmarking statements into practical, observable indicators so that staff understand precisely what evidence is expected and where existing practice already meets or falls short of each performance level.

Building the Core Learning Team EDUTRI supports schools in constituting and training a representative Core Learning Team, comprising management, the principal, teachers across levels, parents, students, and support staff. The team is coached on collaborative review practices so the

self-assessment reflects genuine multi-stakeholder input rather than a single administrator’s perspective.

The 4R Quality Cycle in Practice Schools learn to operationalise Review, Reflect, Respond, and Rate as a recurring annual rhythm rather than a one-time activity. Practical templates and review calendars are introduced so the cycle integrates into the school’s existing academic and administrative timeline without becoming a separate burden.

Evidence Documentation and Portal Readiness Many schools lose marks not due to weak practice but due to inadequate documentation. EDUTRI works with staff to organise existing records, identify documentation gaps, and establish simple, sustainable evidence-collection habits ahead of submission on the CBSE SQAA Portal.

From Assessment to Improvement Planning Self-assessment is only valuable if it leads to action. EDUTRI helps schools convert their domain-wise ratings into a prioritised, realistic improvement plan with assigned ownership and timelines, ensuring the exercise strengthens the institution rather than ending as a filed report.
